My hope is that clients walk away feeling more connected to themselves, more secure in their relationships, and more empowered to make intentional choices in their lives."
- Jessica Cortes
Jessica Cordelia Castaneda Cortes is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor who works with high-functioning individuals, couples, and families who feel stuck in patterns they can't quite explain.
Many of her clients appear put-together on the outside while quietly carrying anxiety, disconnection, or relationship challenges they haven't found words for yet. Jessica especially enjoys working with people who are ready to go deeper: those who want real insight into themselves and the dynamics shaping their closest relationships, not just symptom management.
Her therapeutic approach blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Humanistic, and Emotion Focused approaches within a trauma-informed framework. This integrative toolkit allows Jessica to meet clients where they are while moving beneath the surface to address the deeper patterns driving their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. She brings a strong relational and attachment-based lens to her work, helping clients understand how early experiences and unconscious patterns shape the way they connect, communicate, and show up in their relationships today. With couples and families, she draws on Emotion Focused Couples Therapy to help partners move out of reactive cycles and into more secure, connected ways of relating.
Jessica has been working in the mental health and addiction field since 2017, with extensive experience supporting individuals navigating substance use, emotional challenges, and relational difficulties. Her background spans addiction counseling as well as work with individuals, couples, and families addressing deeper patterns and lasting change. She integrates evidence-based and attachment-focused approaches to help clients build insight, resilience, and healthier connections, balancing depth-oriented work with practical tools clients can carry into everyday life.
Outside the therapy room, Jessica is energized by community and meaningful experiences. She loves being outdoors, playing sports, and cheering on her Dodgers (Go Blue!), along with spending time with the people closest to her and exploring new environments. She also values ongoing personal growth, continuing to deepen her own self-awareness in the same spirit she brings to her clinical work.
Pattern-Focused, Not Symptom-Focused: Jessica works to identify and break the unconscious patterns driving her clients' struggles, helping them understand the "why" beneath what they're feeling rather than only managing what shows up on the surface.
Relational and Attachment-Based Lens: She brings a strong relational focus to therapy, helping clients improve how they connect, communicate, and show up in their most important relationships.
Depth With Practicality: Jessica balances insight-oriented work with concrete, real-world tools, so clients leave sessions with both deeper understanding and tangible ways to apply it.
