ALBA WELLNESS GROUP

Terapia Que Entiende Tu Historia

Bilingual, culturally rooted therapy for first-generation Latinx adults navigating identity, family expectations, and everything in between.

What We Do

You grew up translating, not just words, but worlds. At parent-teacher conferences, you spoke for your family before you could speak for yourself.

You were the first to navigate college applications, lease agreements, and career paths that nobody in your family had walked before. You learned early that asking for help felt like a luxury your family couldn't afford, so you became the one everyone else leaned on.

Now you carry the weight of two cultures, the expectations of your parents' sacrifice, and a quiet voice inside that says you're never doing enough. Maybe you feel guilty for wanting a life that looks different from your family's. Maybe you've been told therapy is "for gringos" or that talking about your feelings means you're being ungrateful. You're not ungrateful. You're human. And the things you're carrying deserve a space where they're understood, not just clinically, but culturally.

Alba Wellness Group was built in Panorama City for a reason. This is your community, over 75% Hispanic, full of families like yours, full of stories like yours. Our bilingual, Spanish-speaking therapists aren't just fluent in your language; they understand the unspoken rules, the family dynamics, the cultural weight that shapes how you move through the world. Here, you don't have to start by explaining what parentificación feels like or why setting boundaries with your mom feels like betrayal. We already know. And we're here to walk with you, in English, in Spanish, or in both, however your heart needs to speak.

Alba Wellness Group was founded by Patricia Alba, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker with over twenty years of experience in trauma and mood disorder treatment. With offices in Panorama City and Lancaster, California, the practice provides culturally responsive therapy for adults, children, teens, and couples, specializing in anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ affirming care, EMDR, and Ketamine-Assisted Therapy.

How We Do It

Our bilingual therapy services are designed specifically for first-generation Latinx adults who are navigating the complex emotional landscape that comes with being a bridge between cultures.

This isn't generic therapy with a Spanish-language option added as an afterthought. From intake to session to treatment planning, every part of your experience is built around the realities of your life, your family system, your cultural context, and the specific pressures that come with being the first in your family to seek this kind of support.

Sessions are available entirely in Spanish, entirely in English, or in the fluid mix of both that reflects how many of us actually think and feel. We call this terapia que entiende, therapy that understands. Your therapist will meet you in whichever language carries the emotion most honestly. Some things land differently in Spanish. Some memories live in English. We hold space for both without asking you to choose.

The issues we work with are not abstract. We address parentification, the experience of being the family's emotional or logistical caretaker from a young age. We explore the tension between honoring your parents' sacrifice and building a life on your own terms. We help you name patterns rooted in machismo and marianismo that shaped how you learned to relate to yourself and others. We work through the anxiety and grief that come with mixed-status family dynamics, generational trauma, identity questions, and the pressure of being "the one who made it." These are not side topics in your therapy. They are the therapy.

Whether you come to our Panorama City office on Roscoe Boulevard or connect through telehealth from anywhere in California, you'll find a therapeutic relationship grounded in cultural humility, clinical expertise, and genuine respect for the strength it took to get here.

Our Process

Step 1

Llama o Agenda en Línea / Call or Book Online

Your journey starts with a free 15-minute consultation, by phone or through our online booking system. This is a no-pressure conversation where you tell us what's going on, ask any questions, and get a feel for whether we're the right fit. You can reach us at (818) 741-2906 or through our contact page. Hablamos Español; you can speak to us in whichever language feels most comfortable. This initial call typically takes place within one to two business days of your request. There's no commitment required; this step is simply about connection.

Step 2

Te Emparejamos con Tu Terapeuta / We Match You With Your Therapist

Based on your consultation, we'll match you with a bilingual therapist whose expertise, style, and cultural understanding align with your needs. We consider factors like the specific issues you want to address, your language preferences, and what feels most important to you in a therapeutic relationship. If the first match doesn't feel right, we'll work with you to find someone who does, because the relationship between you and your therapist is the foundation of everything. This matching process is completed before your first full session.

Step 3

Tu Primera Sesión / Your First Full Session

Your first therapy session is an extended intake where your therapist gets to know your story, your background, your family, your goals, and what brought you here. This isn't an interrogation; it's a conversation. You set the pace. Together, you'll begin to outline what you want to work on and how your therapist can best support you. First sessions are typically 60 minutes and can be held in person at our Panorama City office on Roscoe Blvd or via secure telehealth from anywhere in California.

Step 4

Tu Camino de Sanación / Your Healing Journey Begins

With a personalized treatment plan in place, your ongoing sessions become a consistent space for growth, processing, and transformation. Depending on your needs, your therapist may use approaches like EMDR, DBT, IFS, or psychodynamic therapy, all adapted to honor your cultural context. Sessions are typically weekly and last 50 minutes. Over time, you'll notice shifts in how you relate to yourself, your family, and the world around you. This is where the real work and the real relief begin.

Our Approach

At Alba Wellness Group, our therapeutic philosophy starts with a simple truth: you are not broken, and you were never meant to carry all of this alone.

We practice from a strengths-based, culturally responsive framework that sees your history, your family, and your identity not as obstacles to overcome but as sources of insight and resilience. Our job isn't to give you a script for how to live. It's to help you reconnect with the wisdom you already carry and clear the path toward the life you actually want.

Our clinical approach integrates multiple evidence-based modalities, EMDR for trauma processing, DBT for emotional regulation, Internal Family Systems for understanding the different parts of yourself, and psychodynamic therapy for exploring the deeper patterns that shape your relationships and choices. But what makes our work different is how we apply these tools. Every intervention is filtered through cultural understanding. When we use EMDR to process a traumatic memory, we account for the cultural context that memory lives in. When we teach distress tolerance skills from DBT, we adapt them to reflect the real-world pressures of first-generation life, not the pressures described in a textbook written for someone else's experience.

We also recognize that for many Latinx clients, the decision to start therapy is itself an act of courage. You may be the first person in your family to sit in a therapist's office. You may be navigating skepticism from loved ones, cultural messages that equate vulnerability with weakness, or the practical barriers of cost and time. We hold all of that with respect. Our practice is designed to reduce every barrier we can, offering bilingual care, telehealth flexibility, a warm and welcoming physical space in the heart of Panorama City, and a team of clinicians who genuinely understand the communities they serve.

Healing, in our view, is not a solo project. It happens in relationships, with your therapist, with yourself, and with your community. That's why our approach extends beyond the therapy room. We consider how your growth affects your family system, your professional life, and your sense of belonging. We help you build bridges, not walls. And in a neighborhood like Panorama City, where community is everything, we're proud to be part of the support system that holds you up as you do this important work.
