ALBA WELLNESS GROUP

High-Functioning Anxiety Treatment in San Fernando Valley

You Look Like You Have It All Together, But Inside, You're Exhausted. We See You, and We Can Help.

What We Do

Everyone tells you you're doing great. Your boss relies on you. Your friends call you "the one who has it all together."

You hit every deadline, show up for everyone, and never let a ball drop. But here's what no one sees: the racing thoughts at 2 a.m., the knot in your stomach before every meeting, the inability to sit still without feeling guilty, and the creeping dread that one day everyone will realize you've been barely holding on. You're not lazy when you finally crash, you're depleted. And you're not "just stressed." What you're experiencing has a name, and it responds remarkably well to treatment.

High-functioning anxiety is one of the most overlooked mental health struggles because, from the outside, it looks like success. It drives you to overachieve, people-please, and prepare for every possible outcome, but the cost is your peace, your sleep, your relationships, and your sense of self. Most providers miss it entirely because you don't fit the textbook picture of someone who "needs help." At Alba Wellness Group, we specialize in seeing what others miss. We understand the specific ways anxiety hides behind productivity, perfectionism, and the relentless need to prove yourself.

Our San Fernando Valley and Antelope Valley offices provide a rare space for high-achievers who are tired of white-knuckling their way through life. Whether you're a professional in Panorama City, a parent in Burbank, or a working student in Lancaster, you deserve a therapist who won't dismiss your experience just because you're "getting by." Here, we go beyond surface-level coping and help you build a life where success doesn't cost you everything.

Alba Wellness Group was founded by Patricia Alba, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker with over twenty years of experience in trauma and mood disorder treatment. With offices in Panorama City and Lancaster, California, the practice provides culturally responsive therapy for adults, children, teens, and couples, specializing in anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ affirming care, EMDR, and Ketamine-Assisted Therapy.

How We Do It

High-functioning anxiety treatment at Alba Wellness Group is individual therapy specifically designed for people whose anxiety fuels achievement but quietly erodes their well-being.

Unlike generalized anxiety treatment that focuses on visible symptoms like panic attacks or avoidance, our approach targets the internal patterns that keep you trapped in cycles of overwork, hyper-responsibility, and self-doubt. We treat the whole picture, the perfectionism, the people-pleasing, the insomnia, and the guilt you feel the moment you try to rest.

Our therapists use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based techniques to help you identify the thought patterns and beliefs driving your anxiety. CBT helps you recognize the distorted thinking, like "If I don't do it perfectly, I'll lose everything"  and replace it with more accurate, compassionate perspectives. Mindfulness-based approaches teach you how to tolerate stillness, interrupt the cycle of overthinking, and reconnect with your body's signals before burnout takes hold. These aren't generic relaxation exercises. They're targeted interventions for minds that never stop running.

Treatment begins with a thorough assessment of how anxiety shows up in your specific life, your work, your relationships, your sleep, your inner dialogue. From there, your therapist collaborates with you to build a plan that respects your pace and honors your goals. Some clients come in wanting to stop dreading Sunday nights. Others want to learn how to say no without spiraling into guilt. Whatever your starting point, therapy moves at the speed of your life, not a textbook timeline.

The outcome is not becoming less ambitious or less capable. It's becoming someone who can achieve without suffering for it. Our clients in the San Fernando Valley and greater Los Angeles area consistently describe feeling lighter, sleeping better, and finally experiencing the success they've worked so hard for, without the constant undercurrent of dread.

EMDR and Trauma Therapy

Many high-functioning anxiety patterns are rooted in earlier experiences, childhood expectations, critical environments, or traumatic events that taught you safety had to be earned. EMDR and trauma-informed therapy help you process these experiences so they stop driving today's anxiety. Our clinicians have specialized training in multiple trauma modalities.

Our Process

Step 1

Book Your Free Consultation

Reach out by phone at (818) 741-2906 or through our website to schedule a free consultation. This brief conversation, typically 15 to 20 minutes, gives us a chance to hear what's going on, answer your initial questions, and determine whether Alba Wellness Group is the right fit for you. There's no pressure and no commitment. We understand that reaching out is often the hardest step, especially for someone who's used to handling everything on their own.

Step 2

Your First Session, Finally Being Seen

Your first full session is a comprehensive assessment designed to understand how anxiety shows up in your specific life, your work, your relationships, your sleep, your inner world. This isn't a checklist or a diagnostic interrogation. It's a real conversation. Your therapist will ask about your history, your goals, and what you've tried before. Expect to leave feeling heard and with a clear sense of where therapy is headed. First sessions are typically 50 to 60 minutes.

Step 3

Your Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on your assessment, your therapist will collaborate with you to create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. This plan may include CBT to address perfectionist thinking, mindfulness-based techniques for nervous system regulation, and other approaches based on your specific patterns. You'll know exactly what to expect, how sessions will be structured, and what progress looks like, all on a timeline that respects the reality of your busy life.

Step 4

Weekly Sessions, Building Real, Lasting Change

Therapy sessions are typically held weekly for 50 minutes, either in person at our Panorama City or Lancaster offices or via telehealth from anywhere in California. Each session builds on the last, giving you practical tools you can use between appointments. Over time, you'll notice shifts, fewer sleepless nights, less guilt about resting, the ability to set a boundary without spiraling. These aren't abstract promises; they're the specific, measurable changes our clients experience.

Step 5

Sustained Growth and Transition

As you build confidence in your new patterns, your therapist will work with you to determine when it makes sense to adjust the frequency of sessions or transition out of therapy. This isn't an abrupt ending; it's a thoughtful, collaborative process that ensures you feel equipped to maintain your progress independently. Many clients choose to continue with less frequent check-ins, while others feel ready to step fully into their new way of being.

Our Approach

At the heart of Alba Wellness Group's approach is a foundational belief: you are not broken, and therapy is not about fixing you.

For someone with high-functioning anxiety, this reframing is essential. You've spent years believing that your worth is earned through performance, that rest is laziness, and that asking for help is failure. Our approach challenges those beliefs, not by dismissing your drive, but by helping you separate your identity from your productivity. We start where you are, honor what you've built, and help you create a version of success that doesn't require constant suffering.

Our clinical methodology integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness-based approaches because the research consistently shows they are among the most effective treatments for anxiety, and because they align with how high-achievers think. CBT appeals to the analytical mind. It gives you a clear framework for understanding why you think the way you do and provides structured, practical tools for changing patterns that no longer serve you. Mindfulness complements this by addressing what's happening in your body, the clenched jaw, the shallow breathing, the constant state of "on" and teaching you how to regulate your nervous system in real time, even in high-pressure environments.

What makes our approach distinct is our commitment to cultural responsiveness and community-centered care. We recognize that anxiety is never just an individual experience. It's shaped by the systems, cultures, and communities you exist within. For our clients across the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles area, many of whom are navigating the intersection of professional pressure, cultural expectations, and systemic inequity, therapy must account for the full picture. Our clinicians don't just treat symptoms; they treat people. And they do so within a practice that values clinician well-being, which means your therapist shows up rested, supported, and fully present for you.

We also believe that healing happens best in relationship. The therapeutic relationship itself is a corrective experience for many high-functioning anxiety clients, a place where you can be imperfect, uncertain, and honest without consequences. That relational foundation, combined with evidence-based techniques and a deep respect for your lived experience, is what drives real, lasting change.
