ALBA WELLNESS GROUP
Affordable Therapy That Actually Welcomes You In
We accept Medi-Cal and offer sliding-scale fees, because your budget should never block your healing.
What We Do
You already know something needs to change. Maybe the anxiety keeps you up at night, or your kid is struggling at school, or your relationship feels like it is falling apart.
You have thought about therapy, but then you check prices and close the tab. Or you have Medi-Cal, and you are not sure anyone actually takes it. That stops here.
Alba Wellness Group accepts Medi-Cal at both our Panorama City and Lancaster offices. If you do not have Medi-Cal, we also offer sliding-scale fees based on what you can realistically pay, not what some chart says you should be able to afford. We believe that growing up in the San Fernando Valley or the Antelope Valley, working hard, raising a family, and still not having hundreds of dollars a month for therapy does not mean you deserve less support. It means the system was not built with you in mind. We are here to change that.
Our team looks like the communities we serve. Many of our therapists are bilingual, bicultural, and deeply familiar with what it is like to navigate mental health when no one in your family ever went to therapy before. You will not have to explain your background or justify your experience. You will just be met where you are, with real care, real expertise, and zero judgment about how you are paying for it.
Alba Wellness Group was founded by Patricia Alba, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker with over twenty years of experience in trauma and mood disorder treatment. With offices in Panorama City and Lancaster, California, the practice provides culturally responsive therapy for adults, children, teens, and couples, specializing in anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ affirming care, EMDR, and Ketamine-Assisted Therapy.
How We Do It
Medi-Cal therapy at Alba Wellness Group works the same as any other therapy we offer, because it is the same therapy.
You get a licensed, experienced therapist who provides individual therapy, child therapy, teen therapy, couples therapy, or specialized services like EMDR and trauma therapy. Your Medi-Cal plan covers the cost. You do not pay a copay for most covered services. It is that simple.
If you do not qualify for Medi-Cal but full-price therapy is still out of reach, our sliding-scale program adjusts your session fee based on your household income and financial situation. We talk about this openly during your first call: no paperwork maze, no shame, no gotcha fees later. We tell you what it will cost before you start, and we put it in writing through a document called a Good Faith Estimate. This is your legal right under federal law, and we take it seriously. The Good Faith Estimate lays out the expected cost of your therapy so there are never surprises on your bill.
Getting started takes one phone call. You call us or fill out our contact form, and we schedule a free 15-minute eligibility call. During that call, we verify whether your Medi-Cal plan is one we accept, or we talk through sliding-scale options that fit your budget. We answer your questions in plain language, in English or Spanish, and we walk you through every step so you know exactly what to expect before your first session. Our goal is to remove every barrier between you and the support you deserve, starting with the financial one.

Benefits of Therapy at Alba Wellness Group
KEY BENEFITS
-
Finding a therapist who takes Medi-Cal in the San Fernando Valley or the Antelope Valley can feel like a second job. You call offices listed on your plan's website only to hear "we're not taking new patients" or "that listing is outdated." You leave voicemails that never get returned. After a while, it starts to feel like Medi-Cal therapy is not real therapy, like it is a watered-down version of what people with private insurance get.
At Alba Wellness Group, we actively accept Medi-Cal patients at both our Panorama City and Lancaster locations. We keep our enrollment open because we are committed to serving the communities around us, communities where Medi-Cal is not some edge case but a reality for a large number of families. When you come to us with Medi-Cal, you receive the same quality of care, the same experienced clinicians, and the same evidence-based treatment approaches as every other client. Most Medi-Cal plans cover therapy with zero copay, meaning your sessions cost you nothing out of pocket.
We handle the insurance verification, the billing, and the paperwork. You show up, do the work that matters to you, and leave without a bill. If your specific Medi-Cal managed care plan is one we are not currently contracted with, we will tell you honestly on that first call and help you find someone who is. We would rather point you in the right direction than waste your time.
-
Some therapy practices say they offer sliding scale, but when you ask about it, the "lowest" rate is still $120 a session. That is not a sliding scale. That is a discount for people who were already close to affording it. At Alba Wellness Group, our sliding-scale program is built for people who genuinely need financial flexibility, individuals and families in Panorama City, Lancaster, Palmdale, and surrounding communities who are working full time, maybe more than one job, and still watching every dollar.
When you call us, we have a real conversation about what you can afford. We look at your household income, your obligations, and your situation. Then we find a fee that does not force you to choose between therapy and groceries. This is not charity. It is a recognition that the cost of living in Los Angeles County has outpaced what most people earn, and that should not lock you out of mental health care.
We formalize whatever fee we agree on through a Good Faith Estimate, a written document that tells you exactly what your therapy is expected to cost. No surprise bills. No awkward conversations three months in. You know the number, we honor the number, and you can focus on why you came to therapy in the first place.
-
Money is not the only barrier. If you grew up in a household where mental health was not talked about, or where going to therapy meant something was really wrong with you, then even walking through the door takes courage. Add to that the stress of wondering whether your therapist will understand your culture, your language, your family dynamics, or the specific pressures that come with being first-generation, and the whole thing can feel like more trouble than it is worth.
Our clinical team at Alba Wellness Group includes bilingual therapists who provide sessions in Spanish and English. But language is just the starting point. Our therapists understand the cultural context that shapes how you experience stress, family, identity, and healing. They will not ask you to explain why your mom's opinion matters so much, or why you feel responsible for everyone in your household. They already get it, and they know how to help you work through it without asking you to abandon who you are.
Whether you are a parent trying to get help for your child, a teenager who feels unseen at school, or an adult who has been carrying everything alone, you deserve a therapist who meets you on your terms. That is what culturally responsive care actually looks like, and it is central to everything we do at both our Panorama City and Lancaster offices.
-
One of the biggest fears people have about starting therapy is getting a bill they did not expect. Maybe you have heard stories about someone who went to a doctor and got charged hundreds of dollars for something they thought was covered. That fear is valid, and it keeps a lot of people from ever picking up the phone.
Federal law gives you the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of your therapy before you begin. At Alba Wellness Group, we do not treat this as a technicality buried in fine print. We walk you through it. Before your first session, we give you a written estimate that includes how much each session will cost, how many sessions we expect you might need, and what your total estimated cost could be. If you are on Medi-Cal, the estimate will typically show zero patient responsibility. If you are on a sliding-scale arrangement, it will reflect the exact fee we agreed on.
This document is yours to keep. If your actual charges ever exceed the estimate by $400 or more, you have the right to dispute the bill. We explain all of this to you in plain language, not legalese, because we want you to feel in control of the process. Therapy should reduce your stress, not add to it. Understanding exactly what it costs is part of how we make sure that happens.
-
Access is not just about cost. It is also about geography. If you live in the Antelope Valley or the northeast San Fernando Valley, you already know that most therapy offices are clustered on the Westside or in Santa Monica, a 90-minute drive in traffic that makes weekly sessions nearly impossible. We chose our locations intentionally.
Our Panorama City office at 14500 Roscoe Blvd. serves families across the northeast San Fernando Valley, Sylmar, Pacoima, Arleta, Sun Valley, Mission Hills, Van Nuys, and North Hills. Our Lancaster office at 1601 West Avenue J serves the Antelope Valley, Lancaster, Palmdale, Quartz Hill, Rosamond, and Littlerock. Both offices are in accessible commercial locations, close to public transit routes and major streets.
Having a therapist in your own community matters. It means therapy fits into your real schedule, between work, school pickups, and everything else. It means you are not burning gas money and two hours of your day just to get to an appointment. And it means your therapist understands the specific pressures, resources, and realities of the neighborhood you live in, not just the textbook version.

When financial resources are tight, you need a practice that can serve your whole family, not four different offices with four different intake processes and four different billing headaches. Alba Wellness Group provides individual therapy for adults, child therapy for ages five through twelve, teen therapy, and couples therapy, all under one roof and all available through Medi-Cal or sliding-scale arrangements.
This matters because mental health challenges rarely happen in isolation. A child acting out at school might be responding to stress at home. A couple struggling to communicate might each be dealing with their own unresolved anxiety or grief. A teenager pulling away might need their own space to process things they cannot talk about with family. When your whole family has access to care in one place, the therapists can coordinate, with your permission, to support everyone more effectively.
You do not have to figure out who needs therapy the most or who gets to go this month. At Alba Wellness Group, the goal is for everyone who needs support to be able to get it, without the cost being the thing that decides who gets left out. Whether it is one family member or four, we will work with you to build a plan that makes sense financially and therapeutically.
Our Services
Medi-Cal Therapy
We accept Medi-Cal at both our Panorama City and Lancaster offices for individual, child, teen, and couples therapy. Most Medi-Cal managed care plans cover therapy sessions with no copay to you. We verify your coverage on your first call so you know exactly what is covered before your first appointment. No surprise bills, no confusion.
Sliding-Scale Therapy
If you do not have Medi-Cal or your plan is not one we accept, we offer sliding-scale fees adjusted to your real financial situation. We have an honest conversation about what you can afford, set a session rate that works, and put it in writing with a Good Faith Estimate. This is not a limited offer; it is a core part of how we practice.
Child & Teen Therapy
Specialized therapy for children ages five through twelve and teenagers, using developmentally appropriate methods including play therapy, creative expression, and honest conversation. We support kids and teens navigating anxiety, behavioral challenges, family changes, social difficulties, identity, and more, with affirming care for LGBTQ+ youth and youth of color.
Individual Therapy
One-on-one sessions for adults dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, identity exploration, anger, or life transitions. Your therapist tailors every session to your goals, your pace, and your lived experience. Available in English and Spanish, and fully covered by accepted Medi-Cal plans or available at your sliding-scale rate.
Couples Therapy
Therapy for couples at any stage, whether you are trying to rebuild trust, improve communication, or simply reconnect. We help partners understand each other's perspectives and develop healthier patterns. Available through Medi-Cal (where covered by your plan) or sliding-scale arrangements.
Our Process
Step 1
Call Us or Fill Out Our Contact Form
You do not need to have everything figured out before you reach out. Call us at (818) 741-2906 or complete the form on our contact page. Tell us a little about what you are looking for, whether it is therapy for yourself, your child, your teen, or your relationship. Let us know if you have Medi-Cal or if you need to ask about sliding-scale options. If you prefer Spanish, just say so; we have bilingual team members ready to help. Most people hear back from us within one to two business days.
Step 2
Free 15-Minute Eligibility Call
This short call is where we handle the logistics so you do not have to stress about them. We verify your Medi-Cal plan to confirm it is one we accept, or we discuss sliding-scale fees based on your financial situation. We explain what therapy will cost, in plain numbers, not insurance jargon, and answer every question you have. By the end of this call, you will know exactly what to expect financially. There is no commitment and no pressure.
Step 3
Receive Your Good Faith Estimate
Before your first session, we provide you with a written Good Faith Estimate that details your expected costs. If Medi-Cal covers your sessions, the estimate will reflect that. If you are on a sliding-scale fee, the exact amount per session will be spelled out. This document is yours to review, keep, and reference anytime. It is your right under federal law, and we make sure you understand it completely.
Step 4
Begin Therapy, On Your Terms
You are matched with a therapist based on your needs, preferences, and goals. Your first session is about getting comfortable; your therapist will ask questions, listen carefully, and start building a plan together with you. Sessions are held at whichever office is closest to you, Panorama City or Lancaster, and are typically scheduled weekly at a time that fits your life. You are in control of the pace.
Our Approach
At Alba Wellness Group, we start from a simple belief: you are not broken, and you do not need to be fixed.
You are a whole person navigating a complicated world, and therapy is a space to get support while you figure out your next steps. This belief shapes everything about how we work, from how we answer the phone to how we structure our fees. We do not believe that the size of your bank account should determine the quality of your mental health care, and we built our practice to reflect that.
Our clinical approach is grounded in evidence-based methods including EMDR for trauma processing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy for emotion regulation, Internal Family Systems for understanding the different parts of yourself, and psychodynamic therapy for deeper exploration of patterns and relationships. But we never force a method on you. Your therapist works with you to find the approach that fits how you think, how you feel, and what you want to change. If something is not working, we adjust. Therapy should feel like it belongs to you.
What makes our work specific to the communities we serve in Panorama City, Lancaster, and the surrounding areas is our commitment to cultural responsiveness. Many of our clients are navigating mental health for the first time, often as the first person in their family to go to therapy. We understand the courage that takes. We understand the stigma that might exist at home or in your social circle. And we understand that healing does not require you to reject your culture or your values. Our therapists honor where you come from while helping you get where you want to go.
We also believe that when therapists are supported and valued, clients receive better care. That is why we invest in our clinical team, with training, supervision, and a work environment that prevents burnout. The therapist sitting across from you is not overwhelmed and stretched thin. They are present, prepared, and genuinely invested in your progress. That is the Alba difference, and it shows up in every session.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
We accept several Medi-Cal managed care plans at both our Panorama City and Lancaster offices. Because Medi-Cal plans vary by county and managed care organization, the fastest way to confirm your coverage is to call us at (818) 741-2906 for a free 15-minute eligibility check. We will verify your specific plan and let you know right away whether you are covered, no guessing, no waiting on hold with your insurance company.
-
Sliding-scale therapy means your session fee is adjusted based on your income and financial circumstances. If you do not have Medi-Cal or your plan is not one we currently accept, we talk openly about what you can afford during your eligibility call. There is no rigid income cutoff, we look at your real situation and find a fee that works. The goal is to make sure cost is not the thing that keeps you from getting help.
-
A Good Faith Estimate is a written document that tells you the expected cost of your therapy before you start. Under federal law, you have the right to receive one from any health care provider. At Alba Wellness Group, we walk you through your estimate in plain language so you understand exactly what you will pay, whether that is zero dollars through Medi-Cal or a specific sliding-scale fee per session. If your bill ever exceeds the estimate by $400 or more, you can dispute it.
-
Completely. Many of our clients are coming to therapy for the first time, and a lot of them tell us they almost did not call. That feeling is normal, and it does not mean you are not ready. Your first session is low-pressure; your therapist will get to know you, answer your questions, and help you feel comfortable. You set the pace. There is no script you have to follow and nothing you have to share before you are ready. Learn more about what to expect from our services.
-
Yes. We have bilingual therapists on our team who provide sessions in Spanish at both our Panorama City and Lancaster offices. If you prefer to attend therapy in Spanish, let us know when you call or fill out the contact form, and we will match you with a Spanish-speaking clinician.
