ALBA WELLNESS GROUP

Quality Therapy Covered by Medi-Cal | You Belong Here

No waitlists. No barriers. Compassionate, culturally responsive mental health care you deserve.

What We Do

Finding a therapist who accepts Medi-Cal shouldn't feel like a second job. If you live in Lancaster, Palmdale, Panorama City, or anywhere in the San Fernando Valley or Antelope Valley, you've probably experienced the frustration, long waitlists, providers who aren't taking new patients, or offices so far away that getting there takes half your day.

For families in underserved communities, especially in the Antelope Valley, where mental health resources are scarce, the gap between needing help and actually receiving it can feel impossible to close. That gap ends here.

Alba Wellness Group was built on the belief that high-quality, culturally responsive therapy should be available to everyone, regardless of insurance type. We accept applicable Medi-Cal plans and provide the same compassionate, evidence-based care to every client who walks through our doors. Whether you're an adult struggling with anxiety or depression, a parent seeking support for your child, or a teen navigating identity and pressure, our licensed therapists are ready to meet you where you are, without a months-long wait.

With two convenient locations, one in the heart of Panorama City and one in Lancaster, we've intentionally placed ourselves in the communities that need accessible care the most. You won't be treated as a number or shuffled through a revolving door of providers. You'll be matched with a therapist who understands your background, respects your story, and is genuinely invested in your growth. This is therapy that honors who you are, covered by the insurance you already have.

Alba Wellness Group was founded by Patricia Alba, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker with over twenty years of experience in trauma and mood disorder treatment. With offices in Panorama City and Lancaster, California, the practice provides culturally responsive therapy for adults, children, teens, and couples, specializing in anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ affirming care, EMDR, and Ketamine-Assisted Therapy.

How We Do It

Alba Wellness Group provides individual therapy, teen therapy, child therapy, and anger management services that are covered under applicable Medi-Cal plans.

Each of these services is delivered by licensed and associate-level clinicians who are trained in culturally responsive, trauma-informed care. Our goal is simple: give you access to the same caliber of therapy that anyone with private insurance would receive, because your healing should never depend on the type of card in your wallet.

Our individual therapy sessions create a collaborative space for adults to work through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, identity exploration, and life transitions. For children ages 5 through 12, our child therapy program uses play, art, movement, and creative expression to help kids process feelings they may not have words for, all within a family-centered framework that supports parents and caregivers, too. Teen therapy offers adolescents a judgment-free space to explore who they're becoming, with particular expertise in supporting teens of color and LGBTQ+ youth who may not feel seen in traditional therapy settings.

Our anger management program combines individual and group approaches, providing practical, evidence-based tools for people dealing with explosive emotions, workplace conflicts, or court-mandated requirements. Every service is designed not just to address symptoms but to help you understand what's underneath them, build real skills, and create lasting change.

What sets Alba Wellness Group apart is our commitment to eliminating the barriers that keep Medi-Cal recipients from getting help. We offer a free initial consultation so you can verify your coverage, meet your potential therapist, and ask every question you need answered before committing. From your first phone call to your ongoing sessions, you'll experience care that is thorough, personal, and rooted in the belief that everyone deserves to belong.

Benefits of Therapy at Alba Wellness Group

KEY BENEFITS

  • One of the most painful realities for Medi-Cal recipients seeking mental health care is the wait. In the Antelope Valley and across the San Fernando Valley, community mental health centers are stretched thin, and it's not uncommon to be told there's a three- to six-month waitlist before you can see someone. When you're struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or a child who needs support right now, that timeline isn't just inconvenient, it's harmful. Delayed care means symptoms can worsen, crises can escalate, and the courage it took to ask for help in the first place can fade.

At Alba Wellness Group, we've structured our practice to serve Medi-Cal clients without extended wait times. When you call our offices in Panorama City or Lancaster, our team works to schedule your free consultation promptly and match you with a therapist who fits your needs. We understand that for many families in Lancaster, Palmdale, and the surrounding Antelope Valley communities, our office may be one of the only accessible options within a reasonable distance. That's a responsibility we take seriously. We don't believe you should have to wait to feel better, and we've built our intake process to reflect that urgency.

The result is that you move from your initial call to your first real therapy session in days or weeks, not months. Whether you're a parent who has noticed your child withdrawing, a teen who's been struggling in silence, or an adult who has finally decided it's time to get help, we're ready when you are.

  • Traditional therapy wasn't designed with everyone in mind. If you're a person of color, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, an immigrant, bilingual, or someone whose background doesn't fit neatly into mainstream narratives, you may have experienced therapy that felt disconnected from your reality, or worse, therapy where you had to educate your therapist about your own culture before you could even begin healing. That's not the experience you'll have at Alba Wellness Group.

Cultural responsiveness is one of our foundational values, not a checkbox. Our clinicians are trained to honor the full spectrum of identities, experiences, and backgrounds that our clients bring into the room. In Panorama City, a vibrant and diverse community in the San Fernando Valley, and in Lancaster, where Latino, Black, and mixed-heritage families make up a significant and growing population, culturally responsive care isn't a luxury; it's a necessity. We understand the unique stressors that come with navigating systems that weren't built for you, the weight of intergenerational trauma, the complexity of code-switching, and the strength it takes to seek help in a culture that may stigmatize it.

When you work with a therapist at Alba Wellness Group, you won't have to shrink any part of yourself to fit into a therapeutic model. Your therapist will meet you as a whole person, your culture, your language, your values, and your story, and build a treatment approach around all of it. This is especially critical for teens and children, who are often developing their sense of identity in environments that may not affirm who they are. Here, every client is seen, heard, and valued exactly as they are.

  • Navigating insurance is stressful enough with private plans. With Medi-Cal, it can feel even more confusing, different managed care plans, varying provider networks, and uncertainty about what's actually covered. Many people avoid seeking therapy altogether because they're unsure whether their specific Medi-Cal plan will pay for it, and the process of finding out feels like yet another barrier. Alba Wellness Group removes that barrier entirely.

We offer a free, no-obligation consultation during which our team helps you verify your Medi-Cal coverage before you ever commit to an appointment. We accept several Medi-Cal managed care plans and will walk you through exactly what's covered, what to expect, and how the process works. If your specific plan isn't one we're currently contracted with, we'll let you know upfront and help point you in the right direction, because our goal is to get you into care, even if it's not with us.

For families in Lancaster and the broader Antelope Valley, where options are limited and misinformation about Medi-Cal coverage runs rampant, this transparency matters. You deserve to know exactly what you're getting and what it will cost, which, in most cases with Medi-Cal, is nothing out of pocket for covered services. Our administrative team is experienced in working with Medi-Cal systems and will handle the insurance coordination so you can focus on what matters: your healing. From your first phone call, you'll feel supported, not confused, and never judged for the insurance you carry.

  • Children and teenagers process the world differently from adults, and they deserve therapy that reflects that. At Alba Wellness Group, our child and teen therapy services are specifically designed around developmental needs, not watered-down versions of adult talk therapy. For children ages 5 through 12, we use play therapy, art, movement, and creative expression to help kids explore big feelings in ways that feel natural and safe. For teens, we create a space that is authentically theirs, free of judgment, affirming of identity, and built for honest conversation.

In Panorama City and Lancaster, many families rely on Medi-Cal and have limited options when it comes to finding a qualified child or teen therapist who is both accepting new patients and culturally competent. School counselors are stretched beyond capacity. Community health centers may offer general services but rarely have specialists who focus on the nuanced needs of young people navigating anxiety, family transitions, grief, social challenges, or identity development. This is a gap that directly harms the communities we serve, and it's one we're committed to filling.

Our clinicians have specialized training in working with young people, including LGBTQ+ youth and teens of color who may not feel reflected in traditional therapeutic spaces. We also take a family-systems approach, recognizing that a child's emotional wellbeing is deeply connected to their home environment, school life, and community. When you bring your child or teen to Alba Wellness Group, you're not just getting a therapist, you're getting a partner in your family's growth and healing.

  • Access isn't just about accepting the right insurance, it's about being where people actually live. Alba Wellness Group operates two offices strategically located in communities where the need for mental health services far outpaces the supply. Our Panorama City office at 14500 Roscoe Blvd., Suite 400, serves families across the San Fernando Valley, including Sylmar, Pacoima, Sun Valley, and North Hollywood. Our Lancaster office at 1601 West Avenue J #103 serves the Antelope Valley, including Palmdale, Quartz Hill, Rosamond, and surrounding communities.

The Antelope Valley, in particular, faces a critical shortage of mental health providers. Residents often travel over an hour to access care, and many Medi-Cal recipients in Lancaster and Palmdale report being unable to find a single therapist accepting their plan within a reasonable distance. This is unacceptable. By maintaining a physical presence in Lancaster, we ensure that Antelope Valley families have a real, nearby option for therapy, not just a name on a list that never answers the phone.

Both of our offices are designed to feel warm, welcoming, and safe. From the moment you walk in, you'll know this isn't a sterile clinic, it's a space built for human connection. Whether you choose the location closest to your home, your child's school, or your workplace, you'll receive the same standard of compassionate, evidence-based care. And because we know that getting to appointments can be a challenge in itself, especially for working parents and families without reliable transportation, we work to offer flexible scheduling that fits your real life.

  • You may not think about your therapist's working conditions when you book an appointment, but you should, because the quality of care you receive is directly connected to how supported your therapist feels. At Alba Wellness Group, one of our core values is clinician-centered care. We believe that when therapists are valued, adequately compensated, given manageable caseloads, and treated as whole people themselves, clients receive significantly better care.

This matters especially in the Medi-Cal space, where therapist burnout and turnover are rampant. Many community mental health agencies cycle through clinicians at alarming rates, meaning clients, particularly children and teens who need consistency, are forced to start over with a new provider again and again. That cycle disrupts trust, stalls progress, and can be genuinely retraumatizing. At Alba Wellness Group, we've built a practice that retains talented clinicians by treating them well, which means your therapist is more likely to be present, engaged, and available for the long term.

Founded by Patricia Alba, LCSW, with over 20 years of clinical experience, our practice was intentionally designed to break the cycle of burnout that plagues the community mental health system. Patricia's leadership ensures that every clinician on our team has the training, supervision, and support they need to show up fully for their clients. When you choose Alba Wellness Group, you're not just choosing a therapist, you're choosing a practice that invests in the people who invest in you. That difference shows up in every session.

Our Process

Step 1

Call Us or Request Your Free Consultation

Your journey begins with a simple phone call to (818) 741-2906 or by submitting a consultation request through our website. During this initial contact, our team will ask about your needs, the type of support you're looking for, and your Medi-Cal plan information. This call is completely free, carries no obligation, and typically takes 10 to 15 minutes. Whether you're seeking help for yourself, your child, or your teen, we'll listen first and guide you from there. If you're unsure whether your plan is accepted, this is where we find out together.

Step 2

Verify Your Medi-Cal Coverage

Our administrative team will verify your Medi-Cal managed care plan and confirm which services are covered at no out-of-pocket cost to you. This typically takes one to two business days. We'll contact you with a clear summary of your benefits, so there are no surprises. If your plan isn't one we currently accept, we'll be transparent about that and provide referrals to other providers who can help. Our goal is always to get you connected to care, quickly and honestly.

Step 3

Get Matched With Your Therapist

Based on your needs, preferences, and background, we'll match you with a licensed therapist who is the right fit for you or your family member. We consider factors like therapeutic specialty, cultural background, language, and personality to ensure a strong connection from the start. You'll have the opportunity to meet your therapist during an initial session and confirm that the fit feels right, because the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of everything that follows.

Step 4

Begin Your Therapy Journey

Once matched, you'll begin regular sessions at whichever location is most convenient, Panorama City or Lancaster. Sessions are typically weekly and last 45 to 50 minutes, though your therapist will work with you to determine the right frequency and approach for your situation. From this point forward, your therapist is your partner in healing — helping you set goals, build skills, and create the meaningful change you came here for.

Our Approach

At Alba Wellness Group, our therapeutic philosophy is rooted in a single conviction: you are not broken, and you do not need fixing.

What you may need is space, space to be seen, to be honest, to grieve, to grow, and to reconnect with the strengths you already carry. Every clinician on our team approaches therapy from this foundation of respect, meeting you as a whole person rather than a diagnosis or a set of symptoms. This is especially important for Medi-Cal recipients, who too often encounter systems that treat them as cases to be managed rather than people to be cared for.

Our clinical approach draws from multiple evidence-based modalities, including EMDR for trauma processing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy for emotional regulation, Internal Family Systems for understanding the different parts of yourself, and psychodynamic therapy for deeper exploration of patterns and relationships. We don't apply a single method to every client, instead, your therapist will tailor their approach based on your unique story, your goals, and what resonates with you. For children, that means meeting them through play and creative expression. For teens, it means creating authentic connections without pressure. For adults, it means honest, collaborative work that respects your pace.

What makes our approach particularly relevant to the communities we serve in Panorama City and Lancaster is our deep commitment to cultural responsiveness and community-based care. We understand that healing doesn't happen in isolation; it happens in the context of your relationships, your culture, your neighborhood, and your daily life. Our therapists consider these factors in every session, adapting their work to reflect the realities of your world. We also prioritize continuity of care, because we know that trust takes time to build, and starting over with a new provider every few months is not therapy; it's a system failure. At Alba Wellness Group, we do things differently, because you deserve better.
